BPM Assistant 1.0 FREE
I used this one for years. It does a good job. Lots of other great features as well. Such as BPM Assistant is a utility for Mac OS X 10.4+ that allows DJ's to calculate the BPM (beats per minute) of audio tracks and to locate harmonically compatible tracks when the key of a track is known. You may also use it to transpose notes to any desired key you set it to.

Tap Tempo - Menu Bar
by Philip Loury
In my experience, this is the fastest and most practical option of the bunch. This is because Tap Tempo sits in the menu bar so that it is accessible from anywhere. Simply hold down "Control" and tap the "BPM" icon to determine your tempo. I love this because you dont need to open up a whole new application just to tap out your BPM. Although this app isnt exactly free - its actually rather expensive at $.99cents via the Apple App Store. All you have to do is use it 99 times and it'll literally be worth every penny! HA but seriously though I use this on a daily basis. Absolutely my choice because you can access it no matter what screen you have open at the time... great idea!

BPM Counter 1.0 FREE

Audio Sweet 1.3 FREE
Audio Sweet is a simple utility to make your audio and music workflow smoother. Audio Sweet comes with three utilities to speed your audio production workflow: A simple Delay Calculator, used to convert Beats Per Minute (BPM) to Milliseconds for use in manual Delay units; a tempo converter that will give you time stretching and transposition values for easy transition of an audio file to a new tempo; and a Frequency converter to provide Frequency (hz), period (ms), and Midi Numbers based on Notes, Octaves and Tuning Standards. This is definitely worthwhile if you use all the extra features this provides. As for me personally, i dont really have a need for it. However i am kinda curious about the time stretching tempo converter as well as a frequency shifter. This might be useful when sampling with vintage drum machines and other things outside of modern daws, since most of them now days automatically calculate these values for you. Cool ideas though absolutely.

DelayCalculator 1.0 FREE
Calculates bpm into ms and vice versa. Not sure if it has a tap tempo feature or not? That is the make or brake for me. Anything else i don't care for. So, perhaps the minimal approach this one has to offer is ideal for you? Check it out!
